This webinar presents a case study of the application of Community-Based Social Marketing to encourage backyard composting in the Township of Langley, British Columbia. The entire project is presented, from original research to the findings of the pilot project and how the Township moved forward with a subsequent roll-out.

The project was conducted in two very different neighbourhoods, one a mature area and one a brand new development. Issues of language, yard-size, use of in-sink disposal units, gardening and other challenges will be discussed. As well, the presentation identifies the best practices in promoting the behaviour of composting in the backyard.

Presented by Ken Donnelly, LURA Consulting on Wednesday March 21, 2012 from 12:00 to 1:00 Eastern Daylight Time.

During the past few years a number of
municipalities in the province of Nova Scotia
have significantly increased the volume of
recyclables and organics diverted from
landfill, by switching to clear bags for
garbage collection. Learn what they did, how
they overcame citizen concerns about
privacy, fairness and increased costs, and
what they achieved.
