Heart disease, stroke, asthma, diabetes, obesity, stress and depression reduce community vitality through productivity loss, demands on public- and private-sector resources, and emotional stress. This Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute will present a joint webinar on “PLANNING BY DESIGN: a healthy communities handbook”. The purpose of the handbook is to share and generate ideas on how places can be planned and designed more sustainably. The is a key document for municipal decision makers, planners, public health officials, developers, architects, and others. Participate in the webinar and learn how urban and rural sectors are promoting cleaner air, soil and water, lower carbon footprint development, public health and safety, natural resources conservation, community walkability, and social inclusion — strategies that support healthier communities and long-term economic growth.
